The Exhibition
An exciting new art exhibition Connecting Human Nature & Wild Nature by Michelle Thevenot (Durell) opens September 2nd at Route 11 Creative Arts Centre in Warman, SK.
Free admission welcomes visitors of all ages to step into the gallery to admire the diverse artworks - including chainsaw carvings, paintings, drawings, textile arts, and sculptures inspired by a sincere appreciation for nature’s gifts.
Michelle’s art involves mixed media and natural resources which are lively, diverse, and ever-changing, much like the natural environment from which she draws inspiration. The artwork shares familiar, relatable connections between human nature and wild nature. By interpreting lessons observed in the wilderness and connecting with human experience, the art turns towards visual storytelling and invites deeper personal connections.
“This is my first solo exhibition of works created throughout the past 17 years of my art practice, with many pieces never before seen on public display. This is a special event that opens access for others to experience the power of art in person. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to share these pieces with the community.”

About the Artist
Michelle Thevenot (Durell) is a mixed-practice artist residing near Osler, SK. Michelle grew up in Prince Albert, SK where the proximity to forests, trails, lakes, rivers, and wild animals imprinted a lifelong relationship with the wilderness.
Her love for nature trickled into several mediums such as painting, drawing, wood carving, chainsaw carving, mixed media sculpture, pyrography, textile arts, natural fur sewing, and more.
Each fluctuation in medium, style, and subject matter reflects the current atmosphere around her. Her artistic career began as a youth and the emerging art practice continued at the University of Saskatchewan where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education.
Michelle continues her professional art practice from her home studio. Her creativity flows from nature’s energy which filters into her heart and into the art.
