"Wilderness Walk" is a modern art sculpture featuring an ornamental and functional diamond willow walking stick with log wood display base.

Natural fur of varying species encircle the walking stick, secured with hand-stitching. The fur's texture and color draws attention to layers and elevation.

The hand grip is knotted paracord in rustic, earthy tones.

Nature-inspired emblems such as leaves and trees were etched into the wood with pyrography (wood burning).

The walking staff is displayed on a spruce log wood base that was carved with chainsaw, refined with power tools, and finished with protective sealer.

"Wilderness Walk" cherishes and celebrates: sustainable, renewable natural resources; healthy, healing human-to-earth connections; and the sense of childlike playfulness and wonder found in outdoor adventures.

About Diamond Willow:

Live willows are flexible and strong, able to bend without breaking. Once dried, the wood become strong and lightweight, making ideal walking sticks. When the willow experiences trauma (often due to invading fungus) it responds to the infection by developing these diamond-shaped scars. The striking, colorful formations are hidden beneath the bark until revealed by a woodworker.

The willow represents balance, growth, and strength to withstand the greatest challenges. Its diamonds are proof that even traumatic experiences can be transformed into something beautiful.
